Kogifi discovers e-commerce trends for 2021
" It’s Difficult to Make Predictions, Especially About the Future”, said Danish physicist Niels Bohr. It's hard to disagree with the author. However, despite this, Jakub Koba, CTO of Kogifi Digital, made an attempt to outline seven main trends that, according to him, will be present in e-commerce in 2021. Will the new year surprise us with something?
Of course, the e-commerce market will continue to be fueled by the coronavirus pandemic, which has greatly accelerated the digital transformation of businesses around the world. However, Jakub Koba decided to look at the individual components of this increase:
Artificial intelligence helps with shopping
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to allow for the so-called hyper-personalization and design of a precise shopping experience in line with the preferences of customers with the recommendation of tailored offers, also in real time. Thus, we gain a personal and following our preferences virtual assistant, who knows perfectly well when and what product recommendations he can recommend us - we read in forsal.pl.
Numerous lockdowns that paralyzed traditional trade in many countries of the world have contributed to the even greater popularity of online shopping, with particular emphasis on purchases using smartphones, i.e. in the mobile channel. As we read in egospodarka.pl: According to the research prepared by AdColony for the Mobiem agency, up to 6 out of 10 Polish users surveyed use a phone to make purchases, and according to the Shoper platform, even 2/3 of visits to online stores are entries from mobile devices.
The coronavirus has also forced customers to change their shopping habits. Safety became the priority, so instead of trying on the product in the store, we had to do it virtually. Everything was possible thanks to augmented reality (AR).
Ecology above all else
CTO Kogifi Digital points to the growing eco trend, which also changes many things in the e-commerce industry. This is especially visible in the context of packaging and deliveries. It will be no different in 2021, where we will observe the process of getting rid of e.g. plastic in deliveries and replacing it with biodegradable or recycled packaging and fillers.
Don't throw it away, reuse it!
Another trend in e-commerce referring to the eco-friendly approach is also the rapidly growing area known as second-hand e-commerce or re-commerce. It is also the effect of the growing awareness of consumers about sustainable development, as well as mass fashion for clothes and accessories from the second circulation, incl. thanks to their affordable prices - we read in retailjournal.pl
As emphasized by Jakub Koba from Kogifi Digital, the integration with mobile payments such as Apple Pay / Android Pay has become more important, as there is no need to redirect to the bank's website and log in. Deferred payments are also an important trend, increasing the satisfaction and safety of users and, importantly, the value of baskets.
There is not a month when we would not hear about another leak of user data of another online store or website. Therefore, website owners are doing their best to increase the security of stored data. This is all the more important as the GDPR also watches over it.
