Project overview

Project brief

For SAB Invest (provider of brokerage, asset management, and investment banking services) we designed One Stop Shop (OSS) — a strategic, future-proof platform intended to replace many legacy systems and consolidate the majority of customer activity. OSS is built for flexibility, mobile-first delivery and high scalability using modern frontend stacks and cloud-native microservices.

Scope: Strategic platform (One Stop Shop) design and implementation, web + mobile, integration strategy, cloud-native backend.
Frontend:
Next.js (web), React Native (mobile).
Backend:
Java microservices on Anthos.
Key outcome:
Flexible, scalable platform that consolidates customer activities, shortens time-to-market for mobile features, and simplifies integration with legacy systems.

Challange

SAB Invest needed a single, flexible platform to handle the bulk of customer activity while meeting internal and regulatory requirements:

  • OSS must eventually replace many outdated, heavy systems used by end customers.
  • The platform target: route ~80% of customer activity through OSS, representing ~50% of revenue.
  • The solution needed to be flexible for current and future bank needs while conforming to internal and external guidelines.
  • Faster time-to-market and improved mobile experience were priorities.
  • Integrations with existing systems had to remain thin and maintainable to reduce ongoing complexity.

Our solution

We proposed and delivered a modern, scalable architecture that balances rapid delivery with long-term maintainability:

  • Frontend & mobile — Next.js for the web frontend and React Native for mobile apps, enabling fast iterations and fully custom UI/UX tailored to SAB Invest’s needs and mobile-first market demands.
  • Backend — Java-based microservices deployed on Anthos, providing high scalability, resilience and cloud portability.
  • Thin middleware layer — a slim integration layer between OSS and SAB’s current (and future) systems to minimise coupling and simplify evolution and maintenance.
  • Design for flexibility — architecture and implementation choices focused on adaptability so OSS can evolve with regulatory, business and product changes.

Expected outcome

Below are the primary business and technical outcomes enabled by the OSS approach:

  • A single, strategic platform designed to consolidate customer activity and revenue streams (targeting ~80% of activity / ~50% of revenue).
  • Accelerated mobile delivery and improved user experience thanks to Next.js and React Native.
  • High scalability and operational portability through cloud-native Java microservices on Anthos.
  • Reduced integration complexity via a thin middleware layer, making future system replacements and enhancements less risky and faster to execute.
  • Architecture and delivery model aligned to internal guidelines and regulatory constraints, enabling predictable evolution of the platform.
