SitecoreAI is Sitecore's AI-first SaaS platform for creating, managing and optimizing digital experiences. It was announced at Sitecore Symposium 2025 and launched globally on 10 November 2025. XM Cloud is its core, and it adds entry-level access to CDP & Personalize, Search and Content Hub, plus a new workspace for AI agents called Agentic Studio.
This guide covers what SitecoreAI is, how the agents work, what changed for existing customers, and how to decide your next step.
SitecoreAI in one paragraph
Sitecore describes SitecoreAI as its "next-generation marketing platform that unites everything needed to create, manage, and optimize digital experiences." In practice it brings content (XM Cloud), customer data and personalization, search and digital assets into one SaaS subscription, with AI agents that can plan, create, migrate and test content inside that platform.
What SitecoreAI combines
| Capability | Where it comes from | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Content management | XM Cloud (core) | Headless CMS, Pages editor, components, multisite |
| Customer data & personalization | CDP & Personalize (entry-level access) | Audience data, segments, personalized variants and tests |
| Search | Sitecore Search (entry-level access) | Site search and content discovery |
| Digital assets | Content Hub (entry-level access) | Asset and content operations |
| AI agents | Agentic Studio | Prebuilt and custom agents for marketing workflows |
What is Agentic Studio?
Agentic Studio is the workspace inside SitecoreAI where marketers use, customize and manage AI agents. It is a no-code, drag-and-drop environment. Teams can start from prebuilt agents or design their own for workflows such as campaign planning, content production, content migration and testing.
For enterprise teams the useful question is not "can an agent write a page" but "which repeatable workflow can we hand to an agent, with which approvals". Good first candidates are:
- Content variants and localization: drafting regional or language variants that an editor approves.
- Content migration: moving and restructuring legacy content into new components.
- Testing: proposing and setting up A/B tests on high-traffic pages.
- Campaign assembly: turning a brief into pages, assets and personalization rules for review.
Is customer data used to train AI models?
According to Sitecore, SitecoreAI does not share customer data with external providers or use it to train external AI models. Check your own contract and data processing terms, especially for regulated industries and regions with data residency rules.
What changed for XM Cloud customers?
XM Cloud customers were upgraded to SitecoreAI automatically. No replatforming was required, and existing sites, content and integrations carried over. The work for these teams is adoption: deciding which agents to enable, setting brand guardrails, and updating editorial workflows and permissions.
What about Sitecore XP and XM customers?
Sitecore states that traditional XP and XM customers remain fully supported, with active product roadmaps. Moving to SitecoreAI is a migration to SaaS, not an upgrade. It usually means:
- moving from MVC renderings to a headless front end (typically Next.js),
- re-modelling content and components,
- replacing xDB-based personalization and analytics with CDP & Personalize,
- rebuilding integrations against SaaS APIs.
Sitecore has introduced AI-assisted tooling (SitecoreAI Pathway) to speed this up, and reports large reductions in migration timelines. The real effort still depends on your number of sites, customizations and integrations. Read our phased XP to SitecoreAI migration plan for details.
How to decide your next step
| You are on | Recommended first step |
|---|---|
| XM Cloud (now SitecoreAI) | Agent adoption workshop: pick 2–3 workflows, set guardrails, measure time saved |
| Sitecore XP, licence renewal within 18 months | Migration audit: scope, cost and risk of moving to SitecoreAI versus staying on XP |
| Sitecore XP, heavy xDB personalization | Personalization inventory: which rules matter and how to rebuild them in CDP & Personalize |
| Another CMS, evaluating Sitecore | Fit assessment against your content model, integrations and team skills |
